ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

Adults and Youth (Ages 15+)

I support adults and teens experiencing trauma, anxiety, grief, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, depression, stress, emotional regulation difficulties, anger, body image concerns, and self-development using a compassionate, holistic approach.

My approach integrates EMDR, somatic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), parts work, and yogic tools and wisdom. I aim to offer both meaningful inner work and practical tools you can use outside of session. Together we work to build nervous system flexibility, address the mind, body, and emotions holistically, and support you in becoming more present and moving out of survival mode and long-standing patterns.

We will work at a pace that feels safe and collaborative, helping you reconnect with your body, emotions, and inner resources while building self-trust, resilience, and a stronger connection to yourself.

While my practice is rooted in humanistic and feminist values, I take an integrative approach to therapy —drawing from evidence-based methods and current research, and tailoring each session to the unique needs of the person sitting across from me. I see therapeutic models as tools, not rules: culturally and historically shaped, and most powerful when used with flexibility, intention, and care. Above all, I honour each client’s wisdom, voice, and pace in the journey toward healing.

Josée uses integrative body psychotherapy (IBP) and sensory-motor psychotherapy (SPI) to bring attention to the sensations felt in the body as a focus of attention and a source of information. She holds the awareness that thoughts, emotions, and sensations have an impact on our well being. She often uses expressive art as a pathway we can use to express ourselves and put experiences into words. Josée brings a quality of listening that enables her to be present to those who are suffering and who are living with challenges. She works with people experiencing grief and loss related to death, but also to events like the loss of a job, a serious health diagnosis, pain or illness that makes them feel that something has been taken from them. She uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), an approach that helps people deal with a variety of issues by changing their thinking patterns. Josee is knowledgeable about women’s sexual health. She also has a rich experience working with people of different cultures, faiths, and worldviews. Most importantly, her approach is designed to encourage healing and enhance connection with self, others, and spiritual resources

Josee believes that being present and witnessing our thoughts, feelings, and sensations in the Now opens the door to self-compassion and mindfulness, allowing us to be kind to ourselves, to accept our present experience and to acknowledge our common humanity.

I am dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate through life’s complexities. I partner with my clients to foster healing, personal growth, and an enhanced sense of well-being. My practice is built on the foundation of collaboration, compassion, and tailored therapeutic interventions designed to meet the unique needs of each person I have the privilege of working with.

I work with children (ages 3+), adolescents, and adults. Understanding that every individual’s journey is unique, I integrate a variety of evidence-based practices to address a range of concerns, such as anxiety, stress, self-esteem issues, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, and loss. I utilize third-wave cognitive behavioural therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness practices, and hypnosis. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, recognizing the profound impact of familial relationships on one’s mental health.

About Me:

My path to becoming a mental health professional is uniquely intertwined with my passion for the arts. With a prior degree in Fine Arts, I explored themes of grief, loss, and how emotions may be physically represented. I am deeply interested in the symbolic ways that we express what it means to be human, and I maintain my appreciation for the arts to this day. I also love being outdoors and moving as much as possible. Outside the therapy room, you might find me running in the river valley, rock climbing, hiking, and swimming.
